“Preach It” was a group project directed to our 4th-year group. Divided into teams, we were asked to design display units to fit an exhibition of our final works, that would be presented at DJCAD but then disassembled and transported to London’s New Designers Expo. The main goal of the design was then to fit the set into both given spaces, come up with simple, modular elements that could be stored in a van and be easy to assemble, but most of all, to create an exciting background that would show our thesis designs at their best. My team: Marieke Evans, Lee Johnstone, and Karina Stirling came up with the idea of sourcing our inspiration in sacral architecture as we believed that faith in our own potential and trust in the design process are much-needed elements that should be present over our 4th-year experience.
